# Staff Flag Implementation Summary

## Issue Reference
**Issue Title:** Comande staff
**Description:** Aggiungere un flag chiamato "staff" nella creazione della comanda che blocca il costo totale dell'ordine a 0 e non aggiunge quella comanda al totale dei report.

## Implementation Overview

This implementation adds a "staff" flag to orders that:
1. Automatically sets the order total to €0.00
2. Excludes staff orders from daily revenue reports
3. Maintains full order details for audit purposes

## Changes Summary

### Database Changes

#### Schema Update (`sql/schema.sql`)
- Added `Staff TINYINT(1) NOT NULL DEFAULT 0` column to `ORDINI` table
- Added index `idx_ordini_staff` for efficient filtering

#### Migration Script (`sql/migrations/2025-10-23_add_staff_flag.sql`)
- Provides ALTER TABLE commands to add Staff column to existing installations
- Safe to run on existing databases (uses DEFAULT 0)

### Backend Changes

#### api/salva_ordine.php
**Changes:**
- Added `$staff` parameter extraction from request
- Added validation for staff flag (accepts boolean values)
- Forces `$totale_ordine` to 0.00 when `$staff` is true
- Updated INSERT query to include Staff column
- Added PDO parameter binding for staff flag
- New error code 1030 for invalid staff values

**Key Code:**
```php
$staff = $input['staff'] ?? false;
if ($staff) {
    $totale_ordine = 0.00;
}
```

#### api/genera_report.php
**Changes:**
- Updated revenue summary query to exclude staff orders: `WHERE ... AND o.Staff = 0`
- Updated product statistics query to exclude staff orders: `WHERE ... AND o.Staff = 0`

**Impact:**
- Staff orders do not appear in revenue totals
- Staff orders do not count in product sales statistics

### Frontend Changes

#### cassa.php
**Changes:**
- Added checkbox for "Ordine Staff" in the order form
- Checkbox label: "Ordine Staff (totale a 0, escluso dai report)"
- Placed after the "Numero Coperti" field

**HTML Added:**
```html
<div style="margin-top: 15px;">
    <label for="input-staff" style="display: inline-flex; align-items: center; cursor: pointer;">
        <input type="checkbox" id="input-staff" name="staff" style="margin-right: 8px;">
        Ordine Staff (totale a 0, escluso dai report)
    </label>
</div>
```

#### cassa.js
**Changes:**
1. Added staff checkbox event listener
2. Reads staff checkbox state when saving order
3. Includes `staff` flag in order data sent to API
4. Updates total display dynamically:
   - Staff orders: Shows "0.00" in green/bold
   - Regular orders: Shows actual total
5. Resets staff checkbox when starting new order

**Key Features:**
- Real-time UI update when checkbox is toggled
- Visual feedback (green color, bold font) for staff orders
- Proper state management and cleanup

### Documentation Changes

## Technical Details

### Validation Logic
The staff parameter accepts the following valid values:
- `true` / `false` (boolean)
- `1` / `0` (integer)
- `"1"` / `"0"` (string)

Any other value triggers error code 1030.

### Total Override Logic
When `staff = true`:
1. Backend receives the order with any total value
2. Backend **ignores** the sent total
3. Backend **forces** total to 0.00
4. Database stores 0.00 in `Totale_Ordine`

This prevents any manipulation of staff order totals.

### Report Exclusion Logic
Reports use SQL filtering:
```sql
WHERE o.Staff = 0
```

This ensures:
- Simple and efficient filtering
- Staff orders remain in database (audit trail)
- Historical data integrity maintained

## Deployment Steps

1. **Backup Database:**
   ```bash
   mysqldump -u username -p database_name > backup_before_staff_flag.sql
   ```

2. **Run Migration:**
   ```bash
   mysql -u username -p database_name < sql/migrations/2025-10-23_add_staff_flag.sql
   ```

3. **Deploy Code:**
   - Pull/deploy the updated PHP and JS files
   - Clear any server-side caches

4. **Verify:**
   - Check that existing orders still appear in reports
   - Test creating a new staff order
   - Test creating a new regular order
   - Verify staff order is excluded from reports

## Error Codes

| Code | Message | HTTP Status |
|------|---------|-------------|
| 1030 | Staff deve essere un valore booleano | 400 |

## Business Impact

### Benefits
1. **Accurate Financial Reporting**: Staff consumption is no longer counted as revenue
2. **Audit Trail**: Staff orders remain in database for tracking
3. **Easy to Use**: Simple checkbox in UI
4. **Automatic**: Total is forced to 0, no manual calculation needed

### No Breaking Changes
- Existing orders continue to work
- Default value (Staff = 0) maintains backward compatibility
- Reports automatically exclude staff orders
- Regular order creation unchanged

## Performance Considerations

### Database
- New indexed column adds minimal overhead
- Index on `Staff` improves WHERE clause performance
- Report queries remain efficient with simple boolean filter

### Frontend
- JavaScript changes are minimal and non-blocking
- UI updates are instant (no API calls needed)
- No additional network requests

## Security

### CodeQL Scan Results
✅ **No security vulnerabilities detected**

### Security Measures
1. Input validation prevents injection of invalid staff values
2. Backend enforces total = 0, frontend cannot override
3. Boolean type ensures limited attack surface
4. Existing XSS protections remain in place

## Future Enhancements

Potential improvements for future versions:
1. Staff order analytics/reporting
2. Role-based access control for staff orders
3. Staff order history view
4. Bulk operations for marking existing orders
5. Integration with employee management system

## Support & Maintenance

### Documentation
- Feature documentation: `docs/STAFF_FLAG_FEATURE.md`
- Testing guide: `docs/STAFF_FLAG_TEST_GUIDE.md`
- API reference: `docs/API.md`

### Troubleshooting
1. **Staff orders appear in reports**: Check that migration was run correctly
2. **Total not zero**: Verify checkbox is checked before saving
3. **Validation error**: Check staff parameter format in API request

### Rollback Plan
If issues arise:
1. Revert code changes
2. Staff column can remain in database (default 0 = non-staff)
3. Reports will include all orders (previous behavior)

## Conclusion

The staff flag feature has been successfully implemented with:
- ✅ Minimal code changes
- ✅ No breaking changes
- ✅ Comprehensive documentation
- ✅ Security validation passed
- ✅ All tests passed
- ✅ Ready for deployment

The implementation is surgical and focused, addressing only the required functionality without affecting existing features.
